The same year, Signal Hill Chapter NSDAR joined other DAR chapters as a Commemorative Partner to honor Vietnam Veterans for the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.

During 2016, members joined other Daughters across the country in writing more than 100,000 letters to active military troops to break a Guinness World Record.

We love helping prospective members prove their lineage and encouraging new Daughters to get involved in our projects that support education, patriotism, historic preservation, and conservation.

In the past eight years, we have increased our donations to local and national organizations each year.

2015 NSDAR Literary Promotion Award for Outstanding Service to a Signal Hill Daughter.

During 2015, members visited the Illinois Archives and had a personal tour from the director and attended a session of the House of Representatives.

In 1992, National Junior Citizen awards were earned for the making of the video “Just Say No,” a drug awareness program shown at local schools.

Honorary Past Regent De Young received local, state, and national acclaim for her artwork, featured in two issues of the DAR magazine. flag and an Illinois State flag were donated to the Barrington Area Library, where chapter meetings and events have been held for many years.

Signal Hill Chapter NSDAR was organized April 15, 1972, with organizing regent Peterson, presiding.

The chapter name was suggested by the Barrington Area Historical Society for a high point of land north of Barrington from which early tribes of Native Americans were thought to have sent their signals.
